Wealthy donor who sheltered scandal-plagued Eric Swalwell bankrolls GOP rival

Longtime Democratic Party megadonor Stephen Cloobeck made a max contribution Tuesday to Republican Steve Hilton’s campaign for California governor. Cloobeck previously sheltered Rep. Eric Swalwell from Republican attacks during the congressman's affair scandal.
