Trump did many of the things Republicans criticize Fauci for

Republicans are seeking to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress for invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, while former President Trump also invoked the Fifth Amendment hundreds of times in a 2022 civil case. Republican Senator Rand Paul, who is leading the effort against Fauci, has not directly answered questions about whether he is concerned about Trump's past public downplaying of the COVID-19 pandemic.
