Today, HUD marks the seventh anniversary of the First Lady Melania Trump’s Foster Youth to Independence (FYI) initiative, inspired by @FirstLadyOffice leadership, by announcing new policy improvements to better support vulnerable foster youth. Since 2017, HUD has supported more than 1,700 youth with $23.2 million in FYI funding, and more than 8,900 FYI awards are active today through 409 PHAs in 49 states plus the U.S. Virgin Islands.
