New Jersey put more than 6,000 non-citizens on voter rolls after a software ‘error’

New Jersey election officials reported that a software error erroneously placed over 6,000 non-citizens on voter registration rolls. This error resulted in fewer than 400 ineligible voters casting ballots in local elections during 2023.
