I was delighted to welcome my longtime friend, Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda, to the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains for the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meetings. We discussed the strength of the U.S.-Japan alliance, shared macroeconomic and financial priorities, Japan’s monetary policy normalization, and the importance of sound policy formulation and communication to anchor inflation expectations and avoid excess exchange rate volatility.
