For nearly a century, the United States has prohibited the importation of goods produced with forced labor, and rigorously enforces this law. It is well past time for our trading partners to do the same. Both sides of the aisle have been calling for action on foreign forced labor practices that undercut American workers and businesses. Signed Letter from Dozens of Democrats: “It would also close the door for bad actors now using the lack of inspection and information about de minimis shipments’ contents to flood the U.S. with illicit, forced-labor, fake, and deadly goods – leveling the playing field for domestic manufacturers and workers.”
