Eight sailors assigned to US carrier group that fought in Iran war attempted suicide, Navy secretary tells Congress

Acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao stated in a letter to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand that eight Navy personnel assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group attempted suicide during a deployment. This number of suicide attempts was consistent with the rate across the entire active-duty Navy in 2024.
